Comic book writer Joe Kelly may be best known for being the co-creator of animated cartoon Ben-10 along with his work on Uncanny X-Men, JLA and Action Comics. But he could be known best for being the first writer of Deadpool's first solo series, back in 1997.

Kelly helped craft what Deadpool has become today as The Merc With the Mouth and he recently ran into the writers who are drafting a script for Deadpool's very own big screen film.

"I've actually met with some of those guys over there and talked to them about the movie, Kelly said to MTV Splash Page. "From what I can tell, they're aware of the fan reaction to how he was played in 'Wolverine' and are working very hard to make sure that he's given his props."

Kelly said certain elements from his own series of Deadpool is also being incorporated into the script.

"There's definitely elements of stuff from my run that’s involved in the film," Kelly said. "From what I've been told, I think it'll be awesome. Deadpool is a fantastic character, and if Ryan Reynolds still does him, that'd be really great."

The former Deadpool scribe said this film needs to be done right.

"[Deadpool] really does stand on his own," Kelly said. "He's such a cool, legitimately tortured anti-hero. And it would be kind of a nice shakeup for squeaky clean superhero movies that people have seen. So I sincerely hope it happens."

Well put Mr. Kelly. There is no reason a Deadpool film should be "squeaky clean" and it should be an R rated movie for sure.
