Writer/director Christopher Nolan has been able to dazzle audiences with his films since he broke onto the scene with Memento, in 2000. He has since grown a passionate fan base that is referred to as "Nolanites" and he has made over $2 billion in box office sales worldwide.

In July, Nolan's third and final chapter of his Batman universe comes to a close with the release of The Dark Knight Rises. What Nolan does next is still rather up in the air.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Nolan said "he's serious about the prospect" of directing a James Bond movie but the timing needs to be right.

"It would have to be the right situation and the right time in [the studio's] cycle of things," Nolan also told Empire (via The Playlist).

There is no doubt Nolan would take James Bond to a whole new level of plot twists and turns, however, Nolan likes to work with "his guys" meaning he often uses the same actors in multiple films so it remains to be seen if Nolan would work with the current Bond, Daniel Craig.

Strangely enough, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy recently went public saying he would love to play Bond if Nolan directed.

"I'd love to play Bond with Chris Nolan director or something, it would be awesome," Hardy said to the website, Daily Mail.

Right now Craig's newest Bond film, Skyfall, is in post-production for it's November release later this year and it has been rumored he initially only signed a three-picture deal to play 007 with an option for a fourth film.

With both Nolan and Hardy teaming up, there could be a good chance Craig won't get that option to be Bond in a fourth film since Nolan has a tremendous amount of Hollywood pull right now and can more or less do whatever he wants and studio executives will agree. It's happened in the past with the recent news how Warner Bros. execs wanted The Riddler in Nolan's third Batman flick, as the main villain, but Nolan wanted Bane instead.

It's only a matter of time until Nolan announces what his next move is after he is done working on The Dark Knight Rises and until then, Nolanites everywhere are eagerly awaiting if he will indeed take Bond to another level of awesome.
