A few weeks back news hit the web saying 20th Century Fox had officially filed for the movie title "Days of Future Past" with the MPAA. It was obvious Fox filed this name as a potential title for the sequel to the highly successful movie, X-Men Origins: First Class.
As we have have stood on our soapbox and preached several times in the past, do not take this information as Fox following the exact Days of Future Past storyline from the comics but bits and pieces of the original story will be incorporated into the film instead.
If there is one thing every X-Men fan wants out of this movie it's Sentinels. If digital graphics can create transformer robots on the big screen for the Transformers movie franchise, then there is no reason they cannot do Sentinels—and do them in a grand way.
If you are not familiar with Sentinels, you can always read more over on Marvel.com or on Wiki.
The initial appearance of the Sentinels is as follows, per Marvel's website.
"The Sentinel robots were created by noted anthropologist Doctor Bolivar Trask, who intended to use them to save humanity from mutants. During a televised debate between Trask and Professor Charles Xavier, Trask revealed their existence and activated the robots. Xavier and Trask were soon kidnapped by the rogue Sentinels and brought to their Master Mold. The X-Men arrived and with the help of Trask, seeing the error in his assumption that all mutants were a threat."
Master Mold is the main Sentinel who is like what would be the Queen in the Alien franchise and Master Mold is a portable self-creating factory of Sentinels. Whether or not Master Mold will be in the next X-Men movie remains to be seen (same can be said for the Sentinels in general too) but if Sentinels are a main focus in the sequel Master Mold's appearance could happen as well.
Bottom line is an X-Men movie needs to have Sentinels in it already and even though there was a brief glimpse of a Sentinel in the Danger Room scene of X-Men: The Last Stand, fans have wanted to see the giant, mutant-killing robots since the first X-Men movie hit the big screen back in 2000.
Make it happen, please.
