The Dark Knight Rises is out in theaters closing out the final chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. So what does Warner Bros. and DC do with Batman next?
It is the opinion of The Daily SuperHero that Batman should be left alone for several years. Since it is the tent pole superhero movie for the studio it's time to move forward and establish other hero franchises. Possibly toward a Justice League of America (JLA) ensemble film too.
This seems to be the plan since Warner Bros. announced they have hired writers for JLA and Wonder Woman. They have also publicly said they plan on starting some initial development for The Flash, Aquaman and Green Arrow for the big screen as well.
Superman could be the "jumping off point" for the start of a new, cohesive DC movie universe when the Man of Steel comes out next summer. At least this could be the plan by producer Nolan and director Zach Snyder.
Regarding Batman, whoever is the next writing team and director of the franchise are they will be filling some huge shoes, after Nolan's successful run with the Batman. So there's that, first and foremost, and it'll take a brave and confident director to take the gig next.
But how does any writer and/or director go about approaching Batman in his next flick?
One way to look at it is to reboot it fully but why not just integrate Batman into the potential JLA movie as a kind of "soft reboot" of the franchise? Fans are well aware of of Bruce Wayne's origin story and this way Batman can make his big screen comeback in the next five years. This would, in theory, give the studio more than enough time to focus on all the other DC heroes' solo movies. Then, after JLA, you can have another Batman movie based off of what happened in a JLA movie.
Just our quick opinion and we are sure to have more opinions on this as time goes on.
