Marvel Studios Locks in Joss Whedon For The Avengers 2, Creative Assistance in 'Phase 2' and a TV Show

Writer and director Joss Whedon has quickly become the hottest name in Hollywood this summer after writing and directing the third biggest grossing movie in the history of mankind, with The Avengers.
After The Avengers crushed the box office this past May, it was unknown if Whedon would return to write/direct The Avengers 2. Until now.
Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger has confirmed Whedon's creative involvement with Marvel Studios' Phase 2, he will write and direct The Avengers 2 and help in the development of a live-action television series which takes place within the same cinematic universe as The Avengers.
“Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”
