With all the recent attention focused on newly added villains, Malekith the Accursed and Kurse, it's nice to hear some Thor: The Dark World news from the side of the good guys.

In a recent interview, actor Idris Elba—who played Heimdall in the first Thor movie—talked about how his role will expand in the new film.

"In the new film we're going to get to know Heimdall the Asgardian a bit better, and we're going to get to know Asgard a bit better," Elba said per The Examiner, via Comic Book Movie. "I can't say too much, but the expansion of Thor in his world is going to be huge.

"My part was very small and functional in the first film, but I still felt very privileged to play him—especially since Heimdall looks a certain way and has a Nordic lineage—and here I was playing this character and bringing him to life in a different way. It felt quite groundbreaking to be a part of that."

In Thor: The Dark World we do know the film will expand beyond Asgard and into more of the other realms seen in the original movie. We also know an introduction of the Dark Elves will occur now that Malekith, who is their leader, is the main antagonist in the sequel.

But do not forget about Loki, who will be "dealt with" according to past reports and you never know what he may or may not have his hand in when it comes to manipulating his half-brother. Some websites think Loki will come to Thor's aid, which could be true in the new movie, but he could also be the one who is setting things up from behind the scenes too.
