Iron Man 3 trailer observations and questions with screenshots

The Iron Man 3 trailer is online and while it shows action, suspense and looks to have a much darker tone than the previous two movies, there are many questions and observations after watching it too many times in a row.

Let's dive right in (click images to enlarge them).



Early in the trailer we see the first glimpse of the big screen version of Extremis when a piece of Tony Stark's newest Iron Man suit flies off a table and right onto his left hand.

Stark talks about how everything has changed since the New York battle in The Avengers movie and how there are men who want to kill him. He also talks about how he cannot sleep and there's this scene with Stark on his bed and with all his armor pieces around him. One can say this is a way of saying how torn apart Stark is at this point in his life.

Is this Iron Patriot waking up Pepper Potts while she is sleeping next to Stark? Or is this a knock-off Iron Man suit worn by the villain Firepower, who is also playing a lesser villain role in this movie? Or are Stark's suits out of control?

Is that a tattoo of Captain America's shield on the back of the Mandarin's neck? Is this even the Mandarin? (The second question will be addressed in an upcoming screenshot.)

Iron Patriot arrives at some kind of official military ceremony.
---



Who is this dead guy? Looks like Happy Hogan but it's hopefully not.
---



An attack on Air Force One and the following scene shows Iron Man making mid-air rescues of those who are being sucked out of the plane here.

The Mandarin's infamous 10 Rings.

Stark vs. his own armor?? (His suit looks to be out of control here.)

Iron Patriot in action!

Is this seriously the Mandarin? He doesn't have his rings on and he is wielding a gun.
