CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Extras Casting Call in Cleveland is Complete, Details About This Process

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has finished its process of meeting with extras for when it shoots in Cleveland next month through June. Those who stood in line for hours and hours in the cold, wind, rain and (believe it or not but it happened on Saturday) snow the past two days will now impatiently wait by their phones and computers for Marvel Studios to contact them.

But how does this process work?

If you've never experienced a casting call for extras there is usually a huge line, so block several hours of free time whenever you decide to try and be an extra for any major motion picture. Once through the line and in the casting room, potential extras must fill out paperwork listing their full name, age, height, weight, clothing sizes and shoe size. Then a photo is taken. This photo is not something you want to make a funny face for because Marvel will discard your application and assume that you'll be a jackass on the set. You're chances of being an extra will never ever happen.

After your photo is taken, you're done. But don't change your appearance by drastically cutting your hair because you will not match your photo and it might cause problems if you're called and arrive on set looking a bit different.

Then you wait. However, make sure your schedule is free because it was told to The Daily SuperHero, by former extras from The Avengers and inside sources, that most calls and emails sent for extras are for shoots that same day or within a 24 hour span. Out of town hopefuls should also know that locals will be looked at for most of the sudden, same day needs for location shoots. Or at least that is the info that was provided to us. Anything is possible when it comes to the movie biz.

Handout from the extras casting call for Cap 2 in Cleveland.

Sometimes there is an advance notice and sometime there is a last minute notice. It all depends on the shoot and how many extras are needed, or have canceled. But if you do not respond to an email or voice message that Marvel sends you to be an extra within approximately two hours, Marvel is quick to book the next extra in line. Time availability and extreme flexibility is preferred for extras, per our one source, who was a military extra in The Avengers.

Per a conversation with another former extra, Marvel Studios—and the majority of studios—see extras as a dime a dozen. They are just bodies needed in the background which is why they are so quick to find people who can come in at the drop of a hat.

Good luck to the reported thousands who applied as extras for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Hopefully you're practicing your screaming and running away from explosions right about now.
