With Marvel Studios' Phase 2 set to start with May's release of Iron Man 3, Marvel has also begun to set up Phase 3 which starts in the last half of 2015. Already announced is that Ant-Man will lead off Phase 3 and Doctor Strange is being hinted to be a part of Phase 3 as well.
But it hasn't stopped there.
Marvel Studios has exclusively told The Daily SuperHero that a third Thor movie will not be a part of Phase 3 because Thor's good buddy Beta Ray Bill will get his own big screen movie. Marvel also said Thor will make an appearance in Beta Ray Bill's movie but only to help set up the origin of the character, and in a supporting role.
For those who are not familiar with Beta Ray Bill, he is the alien hero who also carries a hammer, has the same power and look as Thor, but he also kinda looks like a horse. Marvel did tell us to never ever say that to BRB's face because it only makes him angry. Noted.
Beta Ray Bill is a Korbinite, which is an alien race. His body was modified to be his race's champion and wound up being worthy to pick up and wield Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Beta Ray Bill was then given his own magical hammer, similar to Thor's, called Stormbreaker by Odin.
In his first movie, the plot is said to be based off the comic book story arc, "The Ballad of Beta Ray Bill" which is his origin tale and he goes toe-to-toe versus Thor.
