Now that Iron Man 3 is out in theaters the next non-Marvel Studios Marvel movie releasing is July's The Wolverine. Shrouded in secrecy, and shockingly without many leaks besides set photos, Wolverine's next solo film has many mysteries surrounding it.
What is known right now is that the movie takes place after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand and Logan is in Japan. He comes across an old war buddy whom he saved long ago. Looking to repay Logan for saving his life, Wolverine is offered a chance at mortality. The last thing we know about the plot, from the trailers, is that there's a point in the film when Logan is not healing.
Taken from the Wolverine comic book mini-series, by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, The Wolverine will feature ninjas. Lots and lots of ninjas, and a samurai. The Silver Samurai, to be exact.
Speaking of the Silver Samurai, a new piece of information is available which implies there might be two different versions of the Silver Samurai. In the CinemaCon trailer Logan is seen fighting the Silver Samurai who is a giant, and potentially a robot version of the villain. (See image above.)
However, in the International trailer for The Wolverine there's a quick glimpse of a version of the Silver Samurai who looks different than the larger one. His armor does not match the armor of the bigger Samurai. Check the shoulder and forearm pieces of the armor... they don't match up at all. (See image below.)
Without Fox releasing more information about the Silver Samurai, fans will have to wait and see if there are two different versions of the Silver Samurai. Or maybe the Samurai wears two different armors at different points in the movie.
The Wolverine hits theaters on July 26.
