CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Opinion: So Far it Seems Like Falcon and Agent 13 Have Smaller Roles Than Expected
One of the big problems with having large ensemble casts is that there's not enough screen time for everyone. This is starting to take shape as Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been filming in Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and in Cleveland.
Two of the newest members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are being introduced in the Captain America sequel with Falcon (Sam Wilson) and Agent 13 (Sharon Carter). Actor Anthony Mackie has been seen on set several time during the production but not much is known about Emily VanCamp's involvement in the movie, as of the publishing of this column.
In the comics, Falcon has teamed up with Cap'n in many books and the duo even had their own title for a while. Agent 13 has always been a smaller role, supporting character but her involvement in the revealing of the Winter Soldier's comic book story arc was big during writer Ed Brubaker's 2005 comic run.
As of today, Van Camp is still in L.A. while Mackie has been seen at all locations of Cap 2. But here in Cleveland, he's only been seen for a day or two of filming.
Obviously, this story features Steve Rogers, the Winter Soldier, Nick Fury and the Black Widow more than the rest of the cast. However, there was a tremendous amount of hype surrounding the addition of Falcon to the Marvel movie universe, yet he's been pretty scarce on set. While filming continues in Cleveland there is still plenty of time for Falcon and Agent 13 to be more involved in the filming process.
