GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Set to Begin Filming on June 24 at Shepperton Studios in the UK

Marvel's newest movie property, and some say the riskiest to date, Guardians of the Galaxy is officially starting production in England on June 24. This is per a tweet sent out by one of the film's stars, Dave Bautista who plays Drax the Destroyer.

This means Guardians of the Galaxy's (its working title is 'Full Tilt') production coverage will ramp up on top of Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Fox's X-Men Days of Future Past and Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 all of which are still currently in production and filming in Cleveland, Montreal and New York City, respectfully.

One major hurdle regarding the coverage of the Guardians' production is that it'll be filming at Shepperton Studios. Both Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World filmed at Shepperton. Not much coverage was available for the Thor sequel unless it took place on location outside of the studio complex. Guardians could be much of the same.

Shepperton Studios is a very large, close set venue with many sound stages and Guardians will most likely be using the sound stages for green screen filming. Because Guardians of the Galaxy is set in space, and with the majority of it away from Earth, means real locations may be slim-to-none. However, Marvel Studios would rather utilize real locations and practical sets over excessive green screen filming to have a more realistic look to their movies. (They've been quite successful with this approach to filmmaking, wouldn't you say?)

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release in theaters on August 1, 2014 and be ready for coverage of the cosmic movie's production to begin!
