AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Theory: Villain's New Origin Could be a Result of Tony Stark

Avengers: Age of Ultron will not follow the comic book story arc of the same name per writer/director Joss Whedon. In fact, he said this is "....Marvel cinema not Marvel comics" in an interview with Marvel.com.

“We’re doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He’s not. We’re basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside.”

In the comic universe, Dr. Hank Pym (Ant-Man) creates Ultron, who then turns on his creator.

“We’re crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from The Avengers we already know about. It’s a little bit darker than the other film because Ultron is in the house. There’s a science fiction theme that wasn’t there in the other one. Ultron is definitely something that evolves, so we’re going to get together a couple of different iterations. Nothing can be translated exactly as it was from the comics; particularly Ultron.”

So what does this all mean? Let's speculate on one theory.

As Whedon said Ultron will become the creation based on what fans already know from the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since this is the case it has to be assumed that Ultron is an advanced development from Tony Stark's JARVIS technology.

As seen in Iron Man 3, Stark has created an army of Iron Man suits and JARVIS controls them. Perhaps JARVIS loses control and becomes sentient and then becomes Ultron. Already knowing how to control multiple Iron Man suits at the same time, this sounds like a set-up for Ultron, who also builds many versions of himself and an Ultron army of his own in the comics.

Maybe JARVIS completely changes into Ultron or maybe SHIELD tries to replicate Stark tech and it goes bad. Many more theories along this path if you sit and consider them.

This theory would make Stark the central point of Avengers: Age of Ultron and with actor Robert Downey Jr. already signed on for the next two Avengers films it is assumed his paydays are huge. Plus, he is the face of Marvel's movie franchise and it just makes sense to feature the actor in both the sequel and threequel before his contract expires.
