Ryan Reynolds Talks About a Potential DEADPOOL Movie at Such a Peculiar Time of the Year

It's been since around March, earlier this year, when last we heard actor Ryan Reynolds talk about a hopeful Deadpool movie. Now he has again spoke about it to Total Film but at a very peculiar time of the year.

“That movie is alive and kicking, and then it’s dead as a doornail. Then it’s alive and kicking and then it’s dead… it’s like the worst relationship I’ve ever had! [sarcasm] 

“The character knows he’s a comic-book character, he knows he’s in a film, he knows who the executives are at the studio making the movie,” Reynolds explained. “In the current iteration of the script, Deadpool is aware of the Wolverine movie. He doesn’t say anything disparaging about it but he does at one point play with the Deadpool action figure with some curiosity.”

Two weeks out from the 2013 San Diego Comic Con is an intriguing coincidence with timing for Reynolds to start talking Deadpool again. This isn't to say the Merc With a Mouth's movie might be getting a green light by Fox at SDCC, but the timing sure could hint at it.

A couple months ago, one of The Daily SuperHero's insiders hinted a Deadpool movie could get a green light if the Deadpool video game sales were strong and it got good reviews. Despite having a review average in the 60s on Metacritc.com, the average user scores are in the mid-70s and not many have really major complaints about the game except that it was short in length—a common complaint among many games and gamers.

As of the publishing of this column, the game sales numbers have not been released yet and a GameStop manager has also confirmed to The Daily SuperHero that he has not heard any sales numbers from the corporate office either.

So right now Deadpool fans are still waiting to hear if there really was a connection between game sales and Fox green lighting a movie version. But Reynolds' sudden Deadpool movie comments are also a bit out of left field, which is just interesting timing with SDCC only two weeks away.

Definitely stay tuned as Deadpool could be on the brink of finally getting his own solo movie (fingers crossed!). Even Rob Liefeld recently spoke about the Deadpool test footage director Tim Miller and Reynolds filmed to show Fox that the hyper-violent Deadpool can work as a movie. Just as long as Fox will maintain the writers and director's requests to keep it as a hard R-rating, if green lit.
