ANT-MAN: Actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd Are Front Runners For Leading Role

Now that Guardians of the Galaxy has wrapped principle photography in London, Marvel Studios is not filming any movies from the time of this article being published until early 2014 when The Avengers: Age of Ultron start principle photography. With the Avengers sequel next on the docket, casting news will begin hitting the news wires and sites across the web about it.

But first, there's breaking news brewing about a founding Avenger. Variety is reporting they are hearing whispers surrounding two actor names who Marvel Studios executives are eyeing up as their lead character in their film which comes out after The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

That movie is Ant-Man. Initially set to release in November 2015, Marvel and Disney moved Ant-Man's theatrical release up and set it for July 31, 2015.

The trade website specifically states how more actor candidates could be added to Marvel's want-list before an official announcement is made and, as of right now, actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are the two front runners for the role.

Per Variety:

"Sources indicate the two [Gordon-Levitt and Rudd] are expected to meet with Marvel execs and [Edgar] Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of one more actor being added into the mix."

Gordon-Levitt has been previously rumored to possibly be in the running for a future Marvel Studios role in the past, while Rudd has been mentioned by fans but no real rumors have been reported about the actor. Stay tuned as more information is sure to develop on the Ant-Man casting process since all it takes is one report like this one and the next thing you know it becomes a tidal wave of news, rumors and speculation.
