LOKI Movie Has Been Talked About at Least Once and Could be the Next Chapter For the Villain

Thor: The Dark World is preparing its theatrical release overseas this week, followed by its national release in the U.S. the week after. While reviews and spoilers are already hitting the web and social media—due to premieres on the other side of the planet—it is getting tougher to avoid all of them.

But Loki's stock has been on the rise since he was introduced in Thor and attempted to take over New York City in The Avengers. Next up for Loki is his inclusion in Thor: The Dark World and dealing with the aftermath of his attempted takeover of Earth. Reshoots for the Thor sequel led to adding a lot more Loki into the film and even actor Tom Hiddleston pitched several ideas for Loki that were filmed and are now included in the new Thor movie.

However, information has been brought to The Daily SuperHero by a Marvel insider who has said there's been at least one serious discussion for a Loki standalone movie. Details of this discussion were not made available because it was had behind closed doors, but a conversation was had about it by the Marvel brain trust.

Marvel Studios obviously knows they have lightning in a bottle with Hiddleston as Loki—Why else would they add more Loki into the sequel?—and they want to continue riding the wave of mischief and crazy that goes along with the villainous character. Even Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has mentioned the potential of a Loki film (via Slash Film), recently.

"I don’t think [a Loki film] would be before Thor 3 if there is a Thor 3 and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there."

Feige also mentioned about how Thor: The Dark World is, in essence, the conclusion of a "sub-trilogy" for Loki (via CBM).

"But what's interesting about [Thor: The Dark World] is it kind of is a completion of a trilogy already if you look at the first Thor, Avengers and then [Thor: The Dark World]—particularly for the character Loki. You will see a very sort of cohesive arc for that character. So, we can sort of call it a sub-trilogy within the broader [Marvel Cinematic Universe]."

With a campaign to get Loki his own movie, with over 28,000 supporters so far, and both Feige and Hiddleston being questioned by the media about it more and more, it makes perfect sense that at least one discussion about a Loki solo movie has been made somewhere in the depths of Marvel's headquarters. Stay tuned because it's sounding like the talk of a Loki movie is not going away anytime soon but whether or not a solo movie actually happens remains to be seen right now.
