Marvel and Netflix's big, ambitious project to bring four series and a mini-series to streaming television with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders has landed two writers for two of the shows. Per The Wrap, 'The Cabin in the Woods' writer/director Drew Goddard has been signed on to write the Daredevil series. Then per Deadline, 'Twilight' and 'Dexter' writer Melissa Rosenberg will write and helm the Jessica Jones series.
Of course you hear the word 'Twilight' and you might think something other than excitement but those movie made a ton of cash and Rosenberg's work during multiple seasons of 'Dexter' were solid. In other words, you should at least give Rosenberg a chance before jumping to conclusions. Goddard, on the other hand, has several fan-friendly works on his resume—like several episodes of 'Lost' and 'Alias'—so fan reaction won't be anywhere close to as dramatic.
The Marvel and Netflix Daredevil and Jessica Jones series will each consist of 13 episodes. The series are, according to the Marvel press release, said to be released during 2015 and then all four streaming heroes series will get together in 2016's Netflix mini-series ensemble event, The Defenders.
