Comic-Con 2014: DOCTOR STRANGE is Still Without a Release Date But is Hinted to Have Multiple Sorcerers
Marvel Studios' 2014 Comic-Con panel has come and gone. Fans didn't get a full Phase 3 reveal as many hoped but fans did get an announcement that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be a part of Phase 3.
But what about Marvel's worst kept secret ... Doctor Strange?
The good Doctor's official announcement has been eagerly anticipated for over a year now. Even though the movie is in full development mode with director Scott Derrickson at the helm, it still doesn't have a leading actor or release date.
Studio president Kevin Feige is infatuated with Doctor Strange because he's been talking about it for years now. He briefly spoke with Slash Film about the soon-to-be-officially-announced-someday Doctor Strange movie.
"Doctor Strange is a classic Marvel origin story, because he’s got one of the best origins ever... And it is our opportunity to take a left turn into the supernatural.
"Now, what is the definition of 'supernatural'? It varies... We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions.
"[T]raveling through dimensions and traveling through other realms is something we think is very cool... And playing with perceptions of reality we’re going to play a lot with the notion of that as an explanation for how the sorcerers do what they do."
Sorcerers was a plural at the end of that quote. Yes please!
Currently in the running for either a lead role or a role in Doctor Strange are the following actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy and Joaquin Phoenix.
