Marvel's Daredevil is currently filming in New York City for its May 2015 release on Netflix. Previously, it's rumored that the Jessica Jones series would be the next Marvel/Netflix series after Daredevil and now it seems to have been confirmed.
Already having hired Melissa Rosenberg to write and helm Marvel's Jessica Jones series, Netflix's chief creative officer Ted Sarandos has seemingly confirmed (via Empire Magazine) it will begin production next and before Marvel's next Netflix series Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
"Right now, the writers' rooms are open and they're looking at casting Jessica [Jones]. If you sense some hesitation in my voice, that's classic Marvel fashion. They like to keep that veil of secrecy. But Daredevil is already shooting, since that's out first. Eventually the series will run very close together. You can then have a separate season where the characters will cross over."
For those who are not familiar with Jessica Jones, in the comic book universe she has the powers of flight, superhuman strength, physical resistance, psionic protection and is a highly skilled hand-to-hand fighter. She is also a very skilled detective and investigative journalist. Since Marvel and Netflix's super hero series' are focused on "street level" heroes, it is unknown if she will maintain her more powerful comic book powers. She might be adapted and maintain some of the lesser powers to fight into the "street level" hero theme Marvel and Netflix have confirmed all of their series as being.
