DEADPOOL: Ryan Reynolds Was in Awe of the Power of the Internet When the Test Footage Leaked

Do you remember what happened the Monday after the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International ended? Probably not so let me remind you by saying five words: the Deadpool test footage leaked.

After the footage leaked, the Internet exploded about all-things Deadpool for days after. The Daily SuperHero was able to land an exclusive interview with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld who was present for the test footage filming and spoke about it a bit. Deadpool fans everywhere took to social media and many screamed at 20th Century Fox to green light the movie because the test footage was impressive and captured the character brilliantly. Then, director Tim Miller told fans to show love not anger while the project was still trying to get the go-ahead from studio executives.

One person who never spoke about the leaked footage was Deadpool himself, actor Ryan Reynolds. Until now. Early in September, Reynolds spoke to NiagaraFallsReview.ca while promoting his movie The Captive. Reynolds told the website it was unfortunate the footage was leaked, then added:

"But who cares," Reynolds said. "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually.
"And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."

Reynolds may not have revealed anything regarding if he knows when Deadpool will be greenlit by Fox, but he does sound like he's still interested in the role if the movie ever moves forward into production. Right now, the clock is ticking because Reynolds isn't getting any younger so if Fox wants him as Wade Wilson / Deadpool then they better act sooner than later. However, Reynolds does look like he's closer to 27 than his current age (he's actually 37).
