Jeremy Renner Says Fans Will Get the HAWKEYE They Deserve in AVENGERS 2; Then Trolls Fans With CAP 3 Wink(s)
Trolling fans is a trend for Marvel Studios' actors and directors whenever talking about future movie projects. The newest actor to do it is Jeremy Renner, who has previously teased that he's heard about a chance of Hawkeye appearing in Captain America 3 — Hawkeye was cut out of an early script for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
While speaking with MTV, Renner talks about how fans will get the Hawkeye they've wanted (and deserve) after his quick cameo in Thor and then playing a 'bad guy' version of Hawkeye who was under mind control by Loki in The Avengers.
"Pretty much what we talked about for the first [Avengers movie] is what we're able to put into the second [Avengers movie]. And ten-fold because there's more weight [with the Hawkeye's role] and it's great because of it, I think."
So while Hawkeye will have a larger role which is more deserving of the character, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Renner then trolled the fan base by giving them not one wink (above screenshot image) but two winks when hinting at a possible role in Captain America 3.
"I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like Cap 3."
The speculation will continue as to if Hawkeye will or will not be in Captain America 3. This shouldn't be a surprise to fans since Marvel Studios and its employees love to dwell in the realm of misdirection when it comes to future film projects.
Captain America 3 release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
