PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5: Orlando Bloom Says There's Been Some Discussions to Return as Will Turner
It's been a while since there's been any real new news about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. A few months back, Disney pushed the film release back to summer 2017 and recently they've been trying to secure filming discounts to shoot in Australia.
Not much is known about the next Pirates movie except that Johnny Depp will be back to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the directors are Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) and Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 2 & 3) has been re-writing the script. Beyond these scallywags, no others are officially attached... yet.
But now it seems like actor Orlando Bloom could be coming back as Will Turner. Last seen as the new captain of the Flying Dutchman, in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, there is an assumed chance Sparrow might need the assistance of the the Flying Dutchman, its captain and its crew. In a new interview with Yahoo! Movies, Bloom talked about a possible return to the Pirates franchise after not appearing in the last film, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
“There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it.
"That whole experience working with Johnny and [director] Gore [Verbinski] was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved.
"I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.”
There's been discussions which means there's a chance for Turner to return alongside of Sparrow but until Disney confirms this, it is merely just early talks to see if there's interest. And it sounds like Bloom does indeed have interest in returning.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales releases in theaters on July 7, 2017.
