CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Will Feature an Adapted Version of the Superhero Registration Act

The Marvel comics event Civil War saw Iron Man on one side of the figurative line for the Superhero Registration Act and Captain America was on the other side. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation of Civil War, in Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man and Captain America will be on separate sides of a dispute regarding a similar Superhero Registration Act.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige went into a tiny bit of detail about Civil War in the MCU (via SlashFilm).

"I don't want to give too much away, but needless to say, the generalities of the [Superhero Registration] act are the same. Something happens. Perhaps, it's... for things that have happened from all of the movies leading up to this point. As many of the governments of the world say, 'We need to have some oversight of these guys; They need to report to somebody'. So, it falls more under that umbrella versus 'take off your mask' [like in the comics].
"It's not about the secret identity thing as much as it is about... who reports to who and who can agree to an oversight. Because of now, in Avengers 2, there is no more Security Council. Obviously, there is no more S.H.I.E.L.D. [and] Stark is paying for [the Avengers], Captain America is running it, and things occur that make governments begin to question that."

In the comic book universe, Stark was all for the Superhero Registration Act and Cap was against it. In the MCU, things seem to be trending in a similar direction.

Captain America: Civil War releases in theaters on May 6, 2016.
