CAPTAIN MARVEL & INHUMANS Confirmed For Phase 3 With Basic Story Teases and Still in Very Early Development
Marvel is bringing in some girl power! The official announcement of Captain Marvel means a leading lady will star in this brand new franchise.
After hearing seemingly endless complaints about their lack of diversity in leading franchise roles, Marvel stayed strong saying they'll announce it when they crack the code for the best story possible. Whether this happened with Captain Marvel or not remains to be seen because there hasn't been an announcement of a writer attached to it... yet.
Also known as Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel will have, per Marvel.com, "adventures [that] are very earthbound, but her powers are based in the cosmic realm."
Another new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the super hero team the Inhumans. Marvel appears ready to try and hit lightning in a bottle, like they did with Guardians of the Galaxy, once more with this lesser known (per mainstream standards) comic book team.
Studio president Kevin Feige teased the Inhumans and seems to think this franchise could lead to many other spin-off franchises.
"November 2018 will introduce dozens of characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We really do believe the Inhumans can be a franchise or a series of franchise unto themselves. They have dozens of powers and an amazing social structure. With our 20th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we wanted to continue to refine what that universe is about."
Time to bring back all those theories that actor Vin Diesel could be Black Bolt in the Inhumans...
