Actor Daniel Brühl Has Been Cast in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR; Could be Main Villain For DOCTOR STRANGE
Marvel Studios is focused on the marketing campaign for the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron next May right now, plus they are still filming Ant-Man in Atlanta. Meanwhile, they are also moving forward with casting for their next big sequel... Captain America: Civil War.
Filming for Captain America: Civil War starts in spring/summer 2015 in Atlanta with Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct the sequel to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark / Iron Man), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) and Chadwick Boseman (T'Challa, the Black Panther) are all officially attached to the sequel, but now it's time to add another name to the cast.
Marvel has officially announced and confirmed that they have cast actor Daniel Brühl in an unspecified role in Captain America: Civil War. The Inglorious Basterds actor received award nominations for his recent role in director Ron Howard's racing movie Rush which also starred none other than Marvel's own Thor, Chris Hemsworth.
"With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,” said Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige.
Variety.com has added to this report by saying Brühl will not be the main villain in Captain America: Civil War. However, he might be set up in Cap 3 to be the main enemy in Doctor Strange. Cue the Baron Mordo speculation talk.
Captain America: Civil War releases in theaters on May 6, 2016.
