Editorial Rant: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Director James Gunn Has Had Enough of Being Misquoted, Sets Record Straight
Oh James Gunn... I feel for you, man. I really do. You have to put up with the same questions over and over again from media types who are just 'going through the motions' and not putting any real effort into asking thought-provoking questions. Plus, you get to deal with large websites that are run by fans and not real editorial staffs, blogs and little unknown websites misquoting you over and over again. I really do sympathize with you.
Why the rant? Because the Guardians of the Galaxy director has had to take to his Facebook fan page to clarify the fact he has been misquoted about things he said in a podcast by so many large websites there's too many to list. And I'd like to point out that The Daily SuperHero has not misquoted the director because not every word that every director (or actor) says to the media is newsworthy or even real news.

The point of this is to note that Gunn is (very politely) calling out websites who are not properly quoting his words and they are twisting them into non-stories. This is the sad state that online journalism is at anymore because of pressure to produce as much content as possible for more web traffic. Not to mention a lack of real editorial training, knowledge and experience of those who (should) enforce quality control and fact-checking. These are all things that Journalism 101 and professional training would have taught those who are at fault. There's a reason journalism is still taught at the college level, but terrible journalism practices by the untrained is also the reason that celebrities like Mr. Gunn have to spend precious time away from developing the next Guardians of the Galaxy film to write things like this on social media.
Gunn isn't trying to be mean or confrontational in his comments but it's clear he's sick of some in the media and some websites who are not accurate in their 'reporting.' Those people need to take a look in the mirror because you are giving those who have professional journalism training, and do their job the right way, a bad name. [Mic drop.]
