Updated: Announcement Confirming Russo Brothers Directing AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, PART I & II is Coming Soon

They've gone from Emmy winning television comedy darlings of Arrested Development and Community to Marvel Studios' most wanted super hero directors. Anthony and Joe Russo will reportedly direct Avengers: Infinity War, Part I and II after they've wrapped shooting Captain America: Civil War.

Back in December 2014, the now infamous Sony cyber hack revealed email exchanges saying the Russos were being considered to replace Joss Whedon to helm the next installment(s) of the Avengers films. But even before those leaked emails hit the web, there was a rumor about this in October. Those emails and rumor are allegedly fact now.

According to BadAssDigest's sources, the Russo have signed on for the two-part megamovie and an official announcement is coming soon. Being a two-part movie, that releases in consecutive years, means Infinity War will most likely shoot its two films back-to-back, a la The Hobbit. (At least this is what one of The Daily SuperHero's insiders has said.)

While Marvel hasn't confirmed anything as of the publishing of this post, the Russos are definitely Marvel's go-to directors right now since reports of them being hired on for Cap 3 started to emerge right around the time when Captain America: The Winter Soldier hit theaters. And that wound up being the truth.

UPDATE! Both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are confirming the Russo brothers will indeed direct Avengers: Infinity War Part I & II.
