Winter Soldier Will Reportedly be in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Despite Minimal Talk About Him

In just a few weeks, Captain America: Civil War will begin filming at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. It's been confirmed Steve Rogers will be joined by Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, the introduction of Black Panther and actor Daniel Bruhl in an undisclosed role that's rumored to be the villain Baron Zemo.

While a few more characters will surely be announced in the coming weeks and leading up to the start of production, one name has been left out so far and it's not Spider-Man... it's the Winter Soldier. At the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the villain is seen saving Cap and then disappearing. Cap and Falcon are then seen getting ready to find the Winter Soldier right before the end credits roll.

But there has been minimal talk about if the Winter Soldier's story will continue in Civil War. At least not until now according to a new BadAssDigest report:

"I have been assured again and again by sources deep in Marvel that Winter Soldier continues to play a major role in Captain America: Civil War."

There is a popular online theory saying the reason Tony Stark and Rogers get on opposing sides of a government registration act in Civil War is due to Stark learning the Winter Soldier was his father's assassin. Stark wants the Winter Soldier on trial while Rogers wants to help his old friend Bucky Barnes because he was brainwashed into becoming the Winter Soldier.

Again that last paragraph is theory and nothing certain, but if the Winter Soldier does indeed have a major role in Civil War then it could be something that important to both of the movie's stars.

Captain America: Civil War releases in theaters on May 6, 2016.
