AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Box Office Report - Making More Than THE AVENGERS After 3 Weeks of Worldwide Release
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON may not be making as much as THE AVENGERS did in its domestic box office run, but the sequel's International box office performance is making up for it.
In its second weekend in the U.S., Age of Ultron brought in $77 million (actual totals to be updated on Monday). This is down from the $103 million its predecessor made in its second U.S. weekend. In two weeks, Age of Ultron has already amassed $312 million in the U.S. box office; compared to $373 million THE AVENGERS pulled in during its first two weeks of U.S. release.
Internationally, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON has been a massive hit. In the three weeks since it released overseas the sequel has now earned $562 million. Compare this to THE AVENGERS' $436 million in its first three weeks of release and this is an impressive increase of 29-percent.
After three total weeks of worldwide release, Age of Ultron has already brought in $875 million. This is compared to the three week worldwide total of $809 million by THE AVENGERS. An increase of 9-percent over the original movie, so far.
In other words, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is making more money in its first three weeks of worldwide release than THE AVENGERS. And, as of right now, has a chance to surpass the original's worldwide total of $1.5 billion due to increases in overseas box office sales making up for domestic decreases.
