Right away file this under RUMOR because the source report is a YouTube channel (via the website MCUExchange) that The Daily SuperHero has never heard of. Regardless, this RUMOR is so juicy it needs to be shared.
First, let me get into a quick piece of relevant news that applies to this new RUMOR. Last week there were reports going around the web that actor Matthew McConaughey has read (or been reading) multiple Marvel and DC super hero movie scripts and it seems like he's interested in stepping into the world of comic book movies. Not to mention before Benedict Cumberbatch was officially announced as Doctor Strange there were rumors claiming McConaughey might have been up for that role.
Today brings a new RUMOR into the mix for McConaughey as the YouTube channel The Hashtag Show claims they've heard McConaughey might be in the running for a villain in the next Spider-Man movie. Of course it's easy to assume he could be Norman Osborn and most websites will focus on this possibility. However, I'll go outside the box a bit and say IF this RUMOR is true then I can also see McConaughey as either Mysterio or possibly even Kraven the Hunter. (Please bring the comic book story arc Kraven's Last Hunt to the big screen soon.)
Marvel Studios has a knack for hiring established Hollywood stars as villains (see Jeff Bridges and Robert Redford, among others) so there may be some truth to this RUMOR. Stay tuned to this story because IF there is any truth here, then it will surely development with more information sooner than later.
The first Marvel Cinematic Universe SPIDER-MAN movie releases on July 28, 2017 and actor Asa Butterfield is reportedly in talks to be the next Spidey.
