ANT-MAN Production Budget Reported to be $130 Million Which is the Smallest of Any of the Marvel Studios Films
Is Marvel Studios going with a less-is-more approach with ANT-MAN? Pun aside, the budget for ANT-MAN is smaller than any previous Marvel Studios film made before it.
The budget is per The Hollywood Reporter and there is no reason to fret about its $130 million production budget because it's meant to be a somewhat smaller scale movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Again, no pun intended because Ant-Man puns write themselves... seriously.)
So how does the ANT-MAN budget compare to past MCU films? Let's take a look.
- AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON - $250 million
- THE AVENGERS - $220M
- IRON MAN 3 - $200M
- IRON MAN 2 - $200M
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - $170M
- CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - $170M
- THOR: THE DARK WORLD - $170M
- THOR - $150M
- THE INCREDIBLE HULK - $150M
- IRON MAN - $140M
- CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER - $140M
- ANT-MAN - $130M
This means if Ant-Man underperforms compared to previous Marvel Studios films, it doesn't mean it's a flop. A lower production cost means less risk and loss in case of a lower worldwide box office tally.
