ANT-MAN Projecting For $55-$60 Million U.S. Opening; Similar to What Was First Reported For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Could this summer's ANT-MAN be deja vu for Marvel Studios again? ProBoxOffice is reporting that ANT-MAN has early tracking numbers for a U.S. opening weekend total of $55-$60 million.
This is similar to the early tracking numbers GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY had last summer. At first, Guardians was reported to open with $60million. Then, the following week, Guardians was reported to be tracking for a $68-$70 million opening. And the week after that its number moved closer to an $80 million projection.
The point of this all is that ANT-MAN currently projecting in the $60 million range which is nothing to be alarmed by because Guardians proved tracking numbers will rise as the movie release nears. In fact, Guardians also proved that early opening weekend tracking numbers can be crap because it opened to $94 million in the U.S. (Jurassic World corroborated that early tracking numbers can be crap, too.)
Could ANT-MAN make close to $90 million in its opening U.S. weekend? Of course it could but The Daily SuperHero predicts the opening will be more in the range of THOR: THE DARK WORLD which opened to $85 million.
How much do you think ANT-MAN will make in its opening weekend in the U.S.? Comment below.
