What a difference a month can make. In May, it was reported that actor Asa Butterfield was in talks to become the next Spider-Man. Then about two weeks after that, another report said that report was false and there were five actors screen testing for the role in Atlanta.
Today it seems like Butterfield is officially out of contention. This is according to a reporter of TheWrap on the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press. And according to Heroic Hollywood, it seems like Butterfield took to Reddit to answer questions about Spider-Man which might have lead to his name being tossed out for the role. Doing something like that is a big no-no with Marvel Studios' security and secrecy. Plain and simple.
As of right now it seems like only Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz are in contention for the role that allegedly needs to be cast at some point in July for a possible appearance in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.
