A few weeks back a rumor hit the web claiming that THOR director Kenneth Branagh might return to direct THOR: RAGNAROK. Today, this rumor has been debunked by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
The website io9 reports:
"Feige shot down that rumor definitively. Branagh won’t direct part three—but Feige does think we’ll find out who will soon."
Then io9 quoted Feige as saying: "I think towards the end of the summer there will probably be a filmmaker announcement and a writer announcement and maybe even some additional casting announcements. That won’t start filming until middle of next year."
Writer Christopher Yost has been drafting the initial script for THOR: RAGNAROK for several months now and it sounds like he'll be done with it soon. According to this new report it sounds like Marvel will soon hire a screenwriter to get the script ready for production.
As to who could direct THOR: RAGNAROK is still unknown but don't forget Feige did confirm he has spoken with director Adam McKay to helm a future MCU movie. Maybe it's Ragnarok, but fans will have to wait until closer to the end of this summer to find out.
