ANT-MAN: Marvel Studios Head Talks Janet and Hope van Dyne and Hints Why Super Heroes Upset Hank Pym
This weekend ANT-MAN opens in the U.S. and fans everywhere will be able to see the newest super hero introduced into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a new interview on Marvel's website, studio head Kevin Feige spoke about Janet and Hope van Dyne as well as why super heroes upset Hank Pym.
“We will see Janet Van Dyne in action in this film, and part of what happened to her,” reveals Feige. “Then we will understand why that is the reason that he doesn’t want his daughter to follow in those footsteps, [and also] one of the reasons why he’s always so upset about super heroes in general [and] dismissive of them. Because another very logical question in the movie is, why are you hiring this ex-con to put on your suit and do this? The answer is, because he has abilities in cracking security networks and in pulling off heists that nobody else has, which is really why [Scott] needs to do it. But Hope is infinitely more capable of actually being a super hero in the beginning of this film.”
There is a big theme of family in ANT-MAN which is more heartfelt than previous MCU films. This is mainly due to a strong reference to the father - daughter relationship between Scott Lang and his young daughter (Cassie) as well as between Hank and Hope.
