ANT-MAN Proves Movie Toy Releases Are Not Big Spoiler Reveals For Marvel Studios Films

Editorial: It has become a trend when a Marvel Studios movie is getting close to release the toys that are revealed for it cause a stir online as websites speculate movie plot points based on toy adaptations.

Recent examples: It was done for IRON MAN 3 when LEGO released a set that had the Mandarin in a little vehicle (click here for a reminder). And even more recently when Hasbro's CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER 3.75-inch figure line also had a Red Skull figure (click here to see this one) available.

The Mandarin definitely did not have a little buggy vehicle in the movie and the Red Skull did not appear in The Winter Soldier. Of course the speculation kind of makes some sense, for web page hits, but the obvious nature of the speculation actually being a major plot point reveal in toy form has become a big reach for these speculators.

Once again those websites were proven wrong with their toy-based speculation. The LEGO ANT-MAN set included a black-suited Ant-Man figure that is listed as being Hank Pym and every other site went the the headlines that Michael Douglas might suit up and fight alongside of Scott Lang at the end of the film. Or Pym might have been evil all along since the black Ant-Man suit represents the Black Ant in the comics, who is a villain. Of course nothing became of the LEGO minifigure of Pym wearing an Ant-Man suit and all those speculative website posts can officially be classified as trolling for page hits.

It's time for the obvious to be stated and declare that Marvel Studios is too smart to reveal any spoiler or plot point or movie twist in toy form before a film releases. While some toys might reveal small movie bits — like the LEGO prison escape set for GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY — there have not been major spoilers revealed in toy form.

Maybe a spoiler-y toy will be released and revealed after the movie is out, but definitely not before it's in theaters. So let's stop with the posts claiming a toy may have just revealed a big movie spoiler, because it didn't reveal anything that will ruin a major event in a Marvel movie.

If you see posts basing movie spoilers on toys... don't click it because it's sensationalism and false speculation.
