DAREDEVIL Season 2: Marvel CCO Talks About the Addition of ELEKTRA

Right now DAREDEVIL is filming for its 2016 Season 2 release on Netflix. Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer Joe Quesada sat with IGN and talked about how DAREDEVIL is very personal to the characters involved the series.

“The Avengers are about saving the world. Daredevil, Jessica Jones and all those other characters, they’re about saving a neighborhood, they’re about saving a block, they’re about saving an apartment complex. So it’s smaller, but the stakes still feel the same because they’re just as important. To the people living in Hell’s Kitchen, saving their neighborhood is as important to the people in Manhattan when aliens start coming out of a portal in the sky and the Avengers came to save them.
“The other big difference is that these characters live in the neighborhood. Daredevil lives in Hell’s Kitchen so it’s very, very personal. Through the Netflix platform we’re able to explore a much darker sensibility, a more adult sensibility.”

Quesada then went on to talk about casting actor Elodie Yung in the role of Elektra.

“I can’t say enough about Elodie Yung. Literally, we scoured the world for the right Elektra and, man, she is the character. She looks like the character, she walks like the character, and then she has the martial arts training and stunt background that she can rely on. It’s going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra.”

Yung played Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation so she definitely has the martial arts part of her character down.
