GREEN LANTERN CORPS: Tyrese Gibson Confirms Meeting With Warner Bros. for John Stewart Role

Prior to San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, actor Tyrese Gibson was hard at work teasing a role he really want to land as the Green Lantern John Stewart. During SDCC, Warner Bros. officially revealed the reboot title to be GREEN LANTERN CORPS which fell in line with earlier reports claiming both Green Lantern's John Stewart and Hal Jordan might team-up in the franchise.

While actor Chris Pine is still rumored to be up for the role of Hal Jordan, Gibson has now confirmed (via Collider) he has met with Warner Bros. for the Green Lantern role he really wants.

“I’ve already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we’ll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that’s not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there’s a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can’t. We’ll just keep following up.”

Even though this is not a confirmation he has been cast in the role, meetings with studios sometimes do lead to landing a coveted role in an upcoming movie. So this is definitely a good sign of progress that Gibson could become John Stewart.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS releases in 2020.
