Over the past few days, there's been confirmation that JESSICA JONES will be a dark, psychological thriller on a mental and emotional level. But what about the action and her fighting skills?
In the comics she has super human strength and durability, plus flight and psionic protection. With the show being set in the gritty, street level environment of Hell's Kitchen it is unknown if she will have similar powers.
Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has been making the media rounds and stopped by ETOnline to discuss the new Marvel series. Specifically, she spoke about how Jones will fight.
"...[S]he's not a ninja. She never studies martial arts. She's a brawler. You piss her off and boom! You're down! We're not seeing a whole lot of -- 'She mimicked a praying mantis pose and cried, Hiyah!'"
In DAREDEVIL, Matt Murdock is trying to save Hell's Kitchen in a post-Avengers world. Jones is not. And according to Rosenberg, Jones just wants to pay her bills which is why she becomes a private investigator in Hell's Kitchen.
“She's not out to save the city. She's out to make rent.”
Jones is an ex-super hero and Rosenberg teases how fans might see her in a super hero costume at some point. Whether it's in flashbacks as Jones' former hero personas of Jewel or Knightress remains to be seen.
JESSICA JONES premieres exclusively on Netflix in the fourth quarter of 2015.
