CIVIL WAR: Chris Evans Says Captain America's Pursuit of Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier is "Purely Self-Serving"

There is a large fan base who are enamored with the developing relationship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier. It all started in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, developed further in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and will continue to evolve in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

While at Disney D23 Expo last weekend, actor Chris Evans was asked to share his thoughts (via BuzzFeed) on why the Cap and Bucky relationship is so important.

“The best thing about Cap is he’s such a sympathetic character. He struggles so much [and] he doesn’t bleed on people. So to have a character who’s always taking his conflict in such a personal manner, when he has the opportunity to reconnect in a way that could be purely self-serving — it’s not for the greater good, it’s not for anyone else, it’s just for him and he’s put himself last so often, so many times — when you have a character that just remembers him and he has a flash of personal agenda, it’s rewarding. I like it. I like those moments where Cap gets to have a little nugget just for himself.”

Sometimes a hero has to do something for himself and in the case of Cap, for once he's being selfish for himself because he's trying to salvage his past friendship. What's not to like about that?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR releases on May 6, 2016.
