First 3.75 Inch STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Figure Images Hit and Look Like They Don't Have Much Articulation

Over the past few years, Hasbro has gone above and beyond when it comes to articulation on its 3.75 inch action figure lines. The Marvel Universe line was pretty much the pinnacle of articulation awesomeness but then something happened... costs went up.

Costs went up so much that some stores who used to sell the 3.75 inch figures for $9.99 now sell them for $11.99 and sometimes $12.99. According to a Hasbro representative The Daily SuperHero spoke to at San Diego Comic-Con last month, cost increased so much that it caused a chain reaction that effected the price hike at the retailer level.

So in order to combat the increase in costs Hasbro has had to remove some of the points of articulation fans have grown to love over the past few years. Today, you are seeing more and more figures revert back to their 1970s versions where there are only five points of articulation: neck swivel, arms move at the shoulder joints and legs move at the hips. This reduction has dropped the prices of some of the 3.75 inch figure lines to $5.99 - $6.99, depending on which store you shop at.

Prior to the official reveal, some images of a new STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS 3.75 inch figure line have begun to leak online and on social media, and the sad truth is most look like they have a reduction in articulation. Perhaps not down to just five points but a definite reduction from the more highly articulated lines of past years.

It seems like this is just a fact of toy lines right now. Costs are going up and in order to combat this companies like Hasbro have begun focusing more and more on six inch action figure lines currently seen with the Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series, albeit the overall price for the larger figures are in the $20 price range. The big exception here is Hasbro's G.I. Joe line which many thought would get the six inch line upgrade but Hasbro seems set on keeping it as a 3.75 inch line with lots of articulation.

Due to legal precautions — since the toys have yet to be officially announced and shown by Hasbro — The Daily SuperHero will not host those leaked images to its website, but you can click the links below to see them.
