Original FANTASTIC FOUR Script Had Galactus, Mole Man and HERBIE

The blame game for FANTASTIC FOUR is not going away. And rightfully so because the last half of the movie was not good and its box office performance reflects it.

Well it seems like one of the earliest script drafts (from 2012) for FANTASTIC FOUR got into the hands of the website Birth.Movies.Death and it sounds like a much better movie than what was on the big screen. Here's some bullet points of what was going to be in the reboot:

  • Galactus, Mole Man and HERBIE the robot were all supposed to be in it. (How can you cut out a great film trope opportunity with HERBIE when everyone loves a cute little robot sidekick?)
  • Victor Von Doom seems to become a herald of Galactus when he, Reed and Ben uses the Quantum Gate to visit a planet which was already consumed by or being consumed by Galactus.
  • Doom was left behind and Galactus' cosmic power is blasted at Reed and Ben which travels back to Earth and also effects Sue and Johnny who were monitoring things back in the lab.
  • A giant Moloid is created and there is a big battle in the streets against the team.
  • The final battle is against Doom who has overtaken Latveria and created a Dark Matter weapon as he prepares for the arrival of Galactus in the sequel.

Birth.Movies.Death has all the details in their full report and it is highly recommended to read it; click here to do that. While that version of the movie would have been much better than what was produced, it would have cost Fox way too much to actually do it. Although what was present in this earliest script was far more entertaining than what was rewritten.

Maybe Fox will reboot again or maybe they'll just let the rights revert back to Marvel. But as of right now, FANTASTIC FOUR is Fox's worst Marvel movie.
