Pending Marvel Approval: Fox is Looking to Develop an X-MEN Live Action Television Universe of Their Own

How this will play out is a tough call right now. Mostly because Marvel needs to sign off on it and there's been alleged and unconfirmed turbulence between Marvel and Fox.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Fox TV is actively trying to get development going for a X-MEN live action television series.

"[For] X-Men, we're in negotiations with Marvel. We're hopeful we'll be able to announce something soon. We're not closed on a deal yet but it's something we're definitely pursuing," Fox TV Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden said to THR
"The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won't be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney," Walden said of how the deal with Marvel will be structured. "This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox."

The trade website continues to report that the hopeful X-MEN series will be developed by and written by 'Star Trek 3' scribes Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne. Who will also share series 'created by' credits with Evan Katz and Manny Coto ('24'). The latter two will serve as showrunners if Marvel gives Fox the green light to use X-MEN characters on live action television.
