At the end of June, a rumor was circulating the web claiming Marvel Studios might be targeting actor Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) for the title role in CAPTAIN MARVEL. Before that, there was an increasing interest by fans that Blunt could be a good fit for the role.
Could this previous rumor have been a product of fan interest and hype? And was Marvel listening to those fans?
Anything is possible in an age where social media can propel fan interest to a level which is heard by a studio. The Blunt as CAPTAIN MARVEL rumor has now gained a little more traction as another rumor report claiming Marvel Studios might be interested in her has been reported on the YouTube Series Meet the Movie Press.
However, it was noted that while Marvel may have interest in Blunt nothing will be officially offered or confirmed until after a director is officially attached to the movie. It's rare in Hollywood to cast a leading actor before a director is in place for a new potential tentpole franchise.
