STAR WARS: BOBA FETT Movie Was Reportedly Bumped For HAN SOLO in 2018



Remember when Disney and Lucasfilm announced they would release standalone films to support the larger Star Wars stories and call them Anthology films? Of course you do. But do you remember how there were a bunch of rumors that the Anthology movies could be about Han Solo, Rogue Squadron, Yoda, Obi-wan Kenobi or Boba Fett? Maybe not, but there were.

Currently, the Han Solo and Rogue Squadron (now titled Rogue One) rumors became true and have been confirmed to be coming. But what about the others? On Collider Movie Talk they talk about how a Boba Fett movie was indeed coming before Lucasfilm announced, right before San Diego Comic-Con last month, Chris Miller and Phil Lord were developing and directing a Han Solo Anthology movie in 2018.

Collider reports:

"We can now definitively tell you that the Star Wars Anthology film in 2018 was going to be Boba Fett. Those of us at this table had multiple, completely independent from each other and reliable sources that verify the rumored bounty hunter movie was indeed going to happen."

In the video link below, there is discussion how the 2018 Anthology movie was supposed to be Boba Fett and it was assumed to be helmed by FANTASTIC FOUR director Josh Trank. Well... Trank 'stepped away' from working with Lucasfilm and it is alleged this was the reason he was a no-show for the Anthology panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.

Even though Boba Fett was bumped speculation is being made he could have a future role in a later Anthology film of his own. Or in one of Lucasfilm and Netflix's rumored (and hopeful) Star Wars series in the coming years. Or maybe Lord and Miller will give Boba Fett a cameo appearance to set up his own Anthology movie. There's lots of possibilities for Boba Fett and Lucasfilm isn't shelving the most famous bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away.

With Disney's D23 Expo this weekend, and Lucasfilm in attendance for the big movie presentation this Saturday August 15, there's a good chance future Star Wars announcements are coming. Fingers crossed one of those announcements is for Boba Fett.
