STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS - Finn's Lightsaber Might be the Film's MacGuffin Kylo Ren is Looking For

This post kinda sorta contains SPOILERS for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. You've been warned.

The biggest Star Wars fanatics should already know the reason Kylo Ren and Finn will duel in the new movie. But some fans may not.

First of all, it's already confirmed by J.J. Abrams how Kylo Ren is Darth Vader obsessed (a.k.a. a fanboy). It is assumed the image of a melting Vader helmet, from the teaser, is actually in the possession of Kylo who might be collecting all the Vader (and perhaps Sith) remnants so he too can become a very powerful Dark Side Force user.

Next, it's been seen the lightsaber shown being handed off in the teasers is that of Anakin Skywalker. It was giving to Luke by Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatoonie and then Luke lost it in his duel against Vader on Bespin when Vader chopped off his hand. Obviously, the Jedi weapon resurfaces 30 years later and might actually be the MacGuffin of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Then the first movie poster was revealed, a couple weeks ago at Disney's D23 Expo, it showed Finn holding Anakin and Luke's former lightsaber. And in today's 15-second sneak peek teaser, Lucasfilm revealed Finn igniting that blue-blade as he faces off against Kylo in the snowy woods.

But why is this showdown occurring in The Force Awakens? As of right now the simple answer is to say Kylo wants that lightsaber really bad. Probably due to the fact he is a Vader fanatic and wants a piece of the former Sith Lord's past prior to becoming a powerful Dark Side user. That is unless there's a greater purpose behind Anakin and Luke's former Jedi weapon which is why it seems like this blue lightsaber could be the film's MacGuffin.

Just more Star Wars questions to ask... exactly how J.J. Abrams and Lucasilm want it.
