STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII to Reportedly Cast Another Female Lead; Benicio del Toro Nearing Deal to be a Villain
Unless Rey doesn't make it out of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS alive, which is probably not the case, Lucasfilm is reportedly looking to add another female lead for STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII.
According to TheWrap, director Rian Johnson is auditioning female actors, narrowing them down and so far three will read with John Boyega (Finn) very soon. Those women are: Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Olivia Cooke (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl).
Back in July it was reported actor Benicio del Toro was being offered a villain role in Episode VIII and TheWrap also reports the actor is still in negotiations and nearing a deal.
STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII is said to start production and filming sometimes early in 2016 and will releases on May 26, 2017.
