During a promotional Q&A for the Blu Ray release of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke a lot about future movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to MTV, Feige answered questions about CAPTAIN MARVEL and the exec confirmed the casting process won't really begin until there is a solid story in place. And he said 2016 is the time table for any real CAPTAIN MARVEL casting talk begins behind closed doors.
"There won’t be any announcements about [CAPTAIN MARVEL] this year. I think right now we’re scripting the film, figuring out who we want Carol Danvers to be, and really what the structure of the movie will be and what her part will be in some of our other Phase 3 films. And it would be next year that we start to really think about casting."
So all those rumors about potential actors who may be up for the role are exactly that... rumor. At least until the 2015 calendar year closes. Then, more rumors (old and new) are sure to emerge in 2016.
CAPTAIN MARVEL releases on November 2, 2018.
