Why a Current Rumor About Canceling the INHUMANS Movie Really Makes No Sense For Kevin Feige's Future at Disney

This post is getting a big, fat RUMOR tag on it. Mostly because it's source is the website Bleeding Cool, who is connected with sources but on the Marvel comic book side of things more than anything else.

Let me get to this big, fat RUMOR. The site claims that while at New York Comic Con, and talking over a few drinks at a bar, one of their sources said Marvel Studios could be canceling their INHUMANS movie to spite Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter who oversees publishing, animation and television at Marvel.

Now let me take a step back and remind everyone of what happened at the end of August. Marvel Studios parted ways with Perlmutter as president Kevin Feige reportedly threatened to leave the studio. But Disney CEO Bob Iger stepped in and restructured the hierarchy so Marvel Studios now reports to Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn instead.

Apparently, there is a possible real life internal Civil War brewing within Marvel IF this rumor is true. Especially since Marvel TV is leaning heavy on the INHUMANS in AGENTS OF SHIELD.

Again... IF this is true it really makes no sense. First, the site has more sources on the publishing side (who reports to Perlmutter) and that's their specialty as they've been on the forefront of internal drama at Marvel when it comes to changes in the comic book world. Next, this was heard at NYCC and Marvel Studios doesn't have a presence at the event whereas it is in Marvel's publishing backyard. Finally, Feige is already free from Perlmutter so making a drastic move like this could potentially hurt Marvel and is a quick way to get on Iger's shitlist. Feige is known to have his eye on and to eventually take over as president of Lucasfilm when his days with Marvel Studios come to a close.

Causing internal drama by possibly canceling a movie out of spite is the path to the Dark Side and not landing that coveted top Lucasfilm role when current president Kathleen Kennedy ends her reign.

While this post isn't a means to discredit anyone's sources or insiders, there are a lot of holes in this latest RUMOR that needed to be pointed out. There may be a few more things I've missed, but I think I've covered the most important ones here.
