AGENTS OF SHIELD Season 3 Episode 6: Andrew [REDACTED]

If you haven't seen this episode yet, this post contains a big spoiler for it. You've been warned.

Okay so it’s hard to say I didn’t see the big reveal coming after Andrew had miraculously survived the explosion at the minimart. I mean even his story about Coulson’s tail didn’t seem like it would be enough. That explosion tore that building apart. They also didn’t show Andrew’s face in the episode he was supposedly killed. So there were a lot of things working against his death.

The big reveal was, naturally, that Andrew is Lash. He’s the werewolf like Inhuman that’s been hunting down all the other Inhumans. It also explains a few things looking back at the season’s past episodes. The first is why Andrew never approved any of the Inhumans that Coulson brought in for use on the task force. It also explains why Skye survived the Lash attack two episodes ago.

Despite her being spared, though, it’s clear he has something against Lincoln and is desperate to finish the job he started in the season opener. My only question is why he feels like he needs to kill these Inhumans and what his endgame is. He isn’t absorbing their powers or anything like that. Does he just feel disgusted with them for existing? I imagine it will be some time before find some answers. After all, May is the only one that knows what’s going on to some degree. I just hope it doesn’t take too long for the characters to catch up to the audience. That can only last so long before it gets a bit tiresome.

The rest of the episode was divided into a few smaller storylines. There were repercussions for Hunter’s actions when he was willing to sacrifice Andrew in order to kill Ward. Now everyone is a bit distrusting of him and his abilities. I can’t say I blame him though. There was literally no reason to think that Ward wouldn’t have killed Andrew anyways, so at least trying to kill him to prevent that was worth a shot.

So he spent the whole episode bouncing around from character to character trying to find someone who was willing to have him around. He eventually wound up with Daisy and Mac, who were trying to track down who they think is Lash. Their original target was Banks, Rosalind’s top guy. I have to wonder if Hunter’s brashness in going up and just icing Banks will come back to bite them.

Coulson spent the episode going around with Rosalind, finding out more about her and eventually getting over to the ACTU facility. Rosalind and Coulson’s relationship is a fun one to watch develop. The two have great chemistry and are more alike than either wants to admit. At the same time it’s hard not to wonder if one of them is trying to play the other. Or they’re both playing each other. Such is life in the spy world.
